  2. TheRedIdentity 4 July 2010 at 04:30 #

    Both Avatar and TDK are great… almost equally as great

    Honestly, it is my (and many people’s) opinion that The Dark Knight is a far superior movie to Avatar. Really, it’s not fair to compare them. The Dark Knight was a triumph in film making–not without it’s flaws, perhaps, but about as good as any movie released in a long, long time. Avatar, while a visual feast, was little more than a soapbox for James Cameron to preach his opinions about the environment on. The Dark Knight had depth, and importantly, good acting. 8. PtBlnkProductions 4 July 2010 at 06:28 #

    @MEGAINDIEROCK Yes he does build his scenes very meticulously in every movie he’s made.

  9. MEGAINDIEROCK 4 July 2010 at 06:59 #

    @PtBlnkProductions Totally agree!!! Nolan’s films still reflect his independent background, from the subtitle dialogue & music. Trust me, listen closely & be amazed at how significant some scenes really are, Amazing!!!. Avatar is just overblown, special effects, money making garbage, just like Titanic. I’m very Sorry!!! to everyone that’s likes these kind of Movies, but hey, the truth hurts:=)

    @LukeLovesRose Hahahaha i feel so loved by your recognition of me :) . There’s nothing wrong at all with defending Avatar against people like me. I just haven’t seen any actual arguments from you other than 1: It made the most money ever and is very popular 2: It is the best movie ever. You haven’t explained at all any real reason why, you just say anyone who doesn’t see it is stupid without really trying to explain it.
    And i’m a little hurt you didn’t respond to my message on your channel :(

    @PtBlnkProductions

    Oh, it’s you.

    Why is it so bad to defend Avatar against pretentious film snobs like yourselves??

  12. LukeLovesRose 4 July 2010 at 08:02 #

    @andres91881

    Except for Ledger’s Joker, how are the characters in this POS not flat?? Explain. I see several flat heroic characters and one neat villain. That’s it.

    Um, every movie out there is either copying story or technique. Get over it.

    And, honestly, the dialogue between Rachel and Bruce and or Harvey NEVER works. Be honest with yourselves for Christ’s sake.

  13. MEGAINDIEROCK 4 July 2010 at 08:54 #

    @SalsaShark542 Don’t underestimate Nolan if he is directing the third. All of his Movies have been special from the breakthrough indie classic “Following” until now. Expect the unexpected I say, within the casting etc… He can top this I feel.

    heath ledger. amazing. RIP

  15. jim0watkins 4 July 2010 at 09:36 #

    @andres91881 if all you saw was a bad script, you are incompetent at analyzing films. Avatar had as much depth as tdk, which spoon-feeds you the point of the film with a half hour ending, while avatar is more subtle with its themes. Also, if you hate nature, that’s your problem, you can’t understand a film properly if you’re biased like that. And some of the most intelligent and artistic writers, like Thoreau and Annie Dillard, have all written books on nature, and I don’t mean comic books.

  16. andres91881 4 July 2010 at 09:49 #

    Avatar is nowhere even close to TDK in filmmaking. Avatar is a movie with a script for 6 year olds, and no one older. It is literally a story for little kids, like something you would see on Barney or Sesame Street about “loving your neighbors.”. Everyone just spits out terrible acting and dialogue about loving trees and nature. The visuals are good, but the script is boring and terrible. TDK is a movie for intelligent teens and adults, Avatar is for 6 year olds learning about Pocahontas.

  17. jim0watkins 4 July 2010 at 10:29 #

    I just noticed, at 1:10 that Alfred doesn’t even flinch when Joker shoots off a round. Very subtle and well played detail. btw, tdk and avatar were both good, why is there any argument about that?

  18. PtBlnkProductions 4 July 2010 at 10:54 #

    @LukeLovesRose If you hate the Dark Knight and Nolan so much then why the hell do you feel the need to come to a page for the damn movie and say how bad it is and start fights? You’re not even very good at it all you say is “Avatar is genius” that’s it. No arguments no evidence to support your claim other than “people went to see it” well people went to see the Dark Knight and you claim that it’s shit so that holds no value does it. Go jerk of to cameron by yourself please.

  19. andres91881 4 July 2010 at 11:31 #

    Yes, it is true that even after adjusting Avatar because of inflation and those 3-D ticket prices, it did pass Raiders of the Lost Ark in total ticket sales. However, the fact that it was a 3-D movie made specifically for 3-D made many people come out to see it “out of curiosity.” It’s too bad we can’t poll people’s opinions of the movie after they leave the theater…we only see that they bought tickets, but that doesn’t mean they liked it…as is true with any high-grossing movie.

  20. andres91881 4 July 2010 at 12:25 #

    Hi Luke, I see that you have come to stalk me on another page. Also, I thought that we had decided to have an Avatar cease-fire agreement, but apparently that is over…

    The characters in Avatar are as flat as it gets. Everyone is either pure good or pure evil, like a cartoon. Everyone only does things to advance the plot to its next predictable scene. The story is a rehash of 100 other white man goes native movies. Also, Luke…I am not your father, but Jake Sully might be.

  21. chicago4043 4 July 2010 at 13:22 #

    @LukeLovesRose Of what, the crappy story line or the blue people running around in thongs?

  22. LukeLovesRose 4 July 2010 at 14:19 #

    Folkks, you people put way too much stock in the BO results. What you should be worried about is how many tickets were sold for Avatar vs The Dark Knight. Guess what? Avatar is far more popular. AHAHAHAH! Why so serious? lol

  23. LukeLovesRose 4 July 2010 at 14:41 #

    @dt089

    Um, Avatar became more popular than Raiders of the Lost Ark here in the US. I seriously doubt 3D was THAT much of a factor.

  24. LukeLovesRose 4 July 2010 at 15:32 #

    @andres91881

    I have sad news for you, Andres. Avatar is more popular than Raider of the Lost Ark on that unadjusted list. That makes it pretty freakin’ special in my book.

    But, even Terminator 2 was a much better movie than this crap.

    @chicago4043

    Jealous?
